The increase in the Social Security System (SSS) contribution rate and the pension fund for workers in the private sector will be implemented by April this year. The said increase is 12% from the recent 1 percentage point.
Concurrently, the minimum and maximum monthly salary credit (MSC) will rise up to P2,000 and P20,000, respectively. The MSC is where the 12 percent contribution rate will depend.
The highly-anticipated New Manila International Airport in Bulacan is now one phase ahead from realization as San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President Ramon Ang announced that the project will break ground this year.

The Department of Foreign Affairs launched its passport ePayment Portal. This is to increase the agency’s capacity to receive and process passport applications. It is also cited that the ePayments initiatives can greatly decrease the number of no-shows for passport processing.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Cayetano shared that this new payment system can bring convenience since passport applicants can pay the fees anywhere. It is also expected to maximize the capacity of every consular office.
Early of 2017, slots for passport appointment are closing one by one much to the frustration of many applicants. This did not change by the start of 2018 where an increase of over 100k slots was added but still, this addition did not cater every past applicant and even the new ones.
